Day 2

Today was another full day of travel for our kids.  We woke up and had breakfast together at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Duluth.  After breakfast, the kids lead worship for each other...taking turns reading bible verses, sharing the invocation (with actions), and then with skits.  Darwin and Jill's work crew had studied the Good Samaritan, and did a skit on helping others.  My work crew had studied the sending of the 70 and did a skit on how God called each of us (even driver Bob) to come to Milwaukee to help others.

After worship it was time to hit the road.  We had a smooth bus ride, and a great day for travel, except a little wind.  We had lunch at a Subway in Osseo, and then stopped again for a quick stop at the rest area in Portage.  After that, it was on to Milwaukee, and our spirits were lifted when we learned if we got there early enough we could take showers before supper!

When we pulled into the driveway, we were warmly greeted with smiles and waves and helping hands from the Next Step Staff.  We split into three rooms, with Darwin taking the boys, Jill taking Emma, Gretchen, and Alanna, and I taking the rest of chatty gals! :)

After some lovely showers (amazing how much time on a bus and a night of no air conditioning makes us appreciate the showers more, there was some free time and getting to know our new friends.  The other youth group is from Ann Arbor, Michigan (about a 5 hours drive from Milwaukee).

For supper we had burritos (some of our kids had seconds, others weren't such a fan).  Then it was time for worship, where we watched a video by Francis Chan and sang along with the Next Step Worship Band.

After worship we took some time to talk about our day and the coming days as a youth group, took time to journal in our journals (something we are doing every day), and then hung out with our friends and enjoyed an ice cream sundae.

I am not sure about the other two rooms, but ours was filled with some good old fashioned giggles and goofiness tonight!

So that's about it for Day 2.  Hopefully the kids will have time to blog tomorrow.  Good night parents and friends!  Please keep us in your prayers...you are in all of ours!

Good night from a finally quiet room!
Pastor Amy
