Faith of a Mustard Seed
Week of Oct 2, 2013
This week at Saint
Matthew’s, one of the lectionary texts for this weekend talks about faith…the
disciples ask for increased faith, and Jesus responds, saying that if we only have
“faith the size of a mustard seed”, amazing things can happen. We recognize in the world we live in, it can
be often challenging to keep the faith. We are often tested, and challenged. Our prayers are with you as you spend time in
your Faith 5 this week. May your time
together help your family to strengthen your faith and your relationships with
each other and our awesome God.
Remember the Faith 5 is 5
simple steps:
1. SHARE highs and lows of the day2. READ and highlight a verse of Scripture in your Bible
3. TALK about how the verse relates to your highs and lows
4. PRAY for your highs and lows, your family and the world
5. BLESS one another.
Share: When was it
easiest to have faith today? When was it
the most challenging? Where is one place
you saw God at work today?
Read:
Wednesday-Matthew 17:20Thursday-Hebrews 11:1
Friday-Romans 10:17
Saturday-Ephesians 2:8-9
Sunday-2 Corinthians 5:7
Monday-2 Timothy 1:5
Tuesday-2 Timothy 4:7
Talk: What does the daily reading mean to you? How does it apply to you? To how your day has gone?
Pray: For those
who struggle to keep the faith, for those who haven’t been told about Jesus,
for bishops, missionaries, and pastors, for Sunday School and Confirmation
teachers, for all those who pass on the faith
Bless: Have the person being blessed close their
eyes. Make a sign of the cross on their
forehead, and say “May God give you the strength to make it through your day,
and the faith to know that all things are possible through Christ.”
