The Parable of the Prodigal Son
Week of July 16th,
2014
This week at Saint Matthew’s, on Wednesday night, we
continue our summer in the parables with the Parable of the Prodigal Son. As we share one of the best known parables
together, the story of how a son burns bridges in his life, and deserves
nothing, is welcomed back with open arms and a celebration, we are reminded of how
God welcomes us back and celebrates with us when we are “found” again. Our prayers are with you as you spend time in
your Faith 5 this week. May your time
together help your family to remember that to God you are priceless!
Remember the Faith 5 is 5
simple steps:
1. SHARE highs and lows of the day
2. READ and highlight a verse of Scripture in
your Bible
3. TALK about how the verse relates to your
highs and lows
4. PRAY for your highs and lows, your family and
the world
5. BLESS one another.
Share: Have you
ever felt lost before? How did it
feel? Did you notice anyone that looked
lost today? Anything that seemed out of place? Share about that.
Read:
Wednesday-Ephesians 4:32
Thursday-Matthew 18:21-22
Friday-James 5:16
Saturday-Colossians 3:13
Sunday-Proverbs 10:12
Monday-Psalm 130:3
Tuesday-Psalm 51:1-12
Talk: What does the daily reading mean to you? How does it apply to you? To how your day has gone?
Pray: For feuding
families, for those with no family, for the homeless, for the forgotten, for
the orphaned, for the grieving, for those in need of forgiveness, for the
abused and the abusers
Bless: Make the sign of the cross on the forehead of the
one being blessed and say… “You are forgiven and set free, and you can NEVER
fall out of God’s grace.”
