Day 3

8/3/2015

Hey everyone, it is Lucy. I am really surprised by how much fun that is possible in three days. The bus rides have been a blast, the people are super nice, and I have been having so much fun.
Today Pastor Amy woke up us girls 10 minutes early, so that we were able get to the bathrooms before anyone else. We left the church at 9ish and got to this AWESOME BUILDING, called Adullam, and the runner of this program, is Steve. Steve is this awesome man, that is doing amazing things in this neighborhood. He told us all these stories today that really opened my eyes to how God's faith can really change things. His stories were so touching to me, that I almost cried.
After Steve finished his stories, we all split into our work crews and got started on our jobs. The crew that I am in, went to any other building, that Steve and his family were in the process of buying. The job that we had to do was simply hard. We had to break out concrete from a two stale garage drive way, and the concrete from a single garage drive way. It took us awhile but I am not going to tell you all about that haha. Basically, today was real eye opener on how God and Jesus are always there even though sometimes we are in really tough spots, he is there. I can not wait for the rest of the trip, see you soon mom<3, have a good week everyone!!

Hey everyone, it is Brittney! Today was absolutely a blast. I had so much fun today. The only thing that was bad about today was that we had to wake up at 7 in the morning... So we woke up, had breakfast, packed out lunch sacks, and packed up our tools. When we got to the Adullam, this guy named Steve, who was the owner, gave us an awesome tour of the building. He rented out the building for 1 dollar a month!! That is crazy! He gave up his job, which helped his family of ten, to work on the building. He wanted to make the building into a place where people could either get some extra clothes, furniture,  make a coffee shop, cafeteria, and a place for bible study. It takes a lot of work to make something that big. There have been a lot of things that have been donated to the building that normally cost a lot of money. He gave some amazing speeches during the tour. He talked about how some people are afraid of leaving their houses for the fear of other people in the community. People have to live in a tiny apartment with there entire family. Some people do crazy things to earn money for their families. These stories were so touching because some of these people don't know about God but are really interested to learn. When were in the building, we picked weeds in the garden (which was kind of scary), washed dishes for the cafe, and demolished a table, which was the most fun part of the day. There was also a prayer room that was absolutely amazing. In there, you can write in a journal to God. I read some of them and it is cool to see what an impact God has on people.  Hopefully through the rest of the trip, my relationship with God gets stronger,

As you can tell, our kids have been having a great time.  Both work crews worked amazing hard today and all three adults were impressed by how hard they worked!. They did you proud parents!   Tomorrow the kids will be back to work at Adullam Ou
treach and Adullam Apartments. We will post pictures to Facebook as well as occasionally here.  Thanks for praying for the kids...we are praying for all of you!

Good night from a tired but blessed group of kiddos!
