God of the Second Chance
Week of June 25th, 2014
This week at Saint
Matthew’s, on Wednesday night, we are enjoying a concert by John Bedore. On Sunday we are exploring how God gives us
another chance, a fresh start, even after we let him down and make mistakes. What does it mean to you and your family
that even when we fail, we are forgiven and given a new chance? How can we learn from Christ’s example when
others fail us, or let us down? Our
prayers are with you as you spend time in your Faith 5 this week. May your time together help your family to remember
that all things are possible with God!
Remember the Faith 5 is 5
simple steps:
1. SHARE highs and lows of the day
2. READ and highlight a verse of Scripture in
your Bible
3. TALK about how the verse relates to your
highs and lows
4. PRAY for your highs and lows, your family and
the world
5. BLESS one another.
Share: Where is
one place that you might have made a mistake today? Share about what happened. Where was one place you saw or experienced
forgiveness today? Share about that too.
Read:
Wednesday-1 John 1:9
Thursday-John 3:17
Friday-Romans 5:8
Saturday-Psalm 103:12
Sunday-Isaiah 43:25
Monday-Hebrews 4:16
Tuesday-2 Corinthians
5:17
Talk: What does the daily reading mean to you? How does it apply to you? To how your day has gone?
Pray: For those
facing persecution, for those who feel unloved by family members, for those who
are lonely, for those in need of protection, for those who are abused, for
abusers
Bless: Hold the hands of the one being blessed, and say “May
God remind you that whatever mistakes you make, you are given a fresh start and
forgiven.” Touch their feet, and say “May God walk with you, and help you to
follow his path”, and then make the sign of the cross on their forehead and say
“May the God of forgiveness give you peace today and always.”
