God and Wealth
Week of Sept 18, 2013
This week at Saint
Matthew’s, we will be talking about the scripture “you cannot serve both God
and wealth”. It is a text filled with
the images of money, dishonesty, and relationships. A challenging text to be sure. Our prayers are with you as you spend time in
your Faith 5 this week. As you continue
to build your relationships between family members and the God who loves you
so, may you remember that God showers you with grace.
Remember the Faith 5 is 5
simple steps:
1. SHARE highs and lows of the day
2. READ and highlight a verse of Scripture in
your Bible
3. TALK about how the verse relates to your
highs and lows
4. PRAY for your highs and lows, your family and
the world
5. BLESS one another.
Share: What was the most stressful part of your
day? What was the most relaxing? Why?
What is one thing you did today that had to do with money? What is one thing you did today that had to
do with God?
Read:
Wednesday-Luke 3:10-11Thursday-Matthew 6:19-21
Friday-Hebrews 13:5
Saturday-Matthew 6:24-25
Sunday-Luke 6:38
Monday-Philippians 4:11-13
Tuesday-Romans 13:7-8
Talk: What does the daily
reading mean to you? How does it apply
to you? To how your day has gone?
Pray: For those who struggle to pay their bills,
for those who let money rule their lives, for unemployed and underemployed, for
those who don’t have food to eat, for those who have broken relationships
Bless: Have a person
being blessed hold onto a coin or dollar bill.
Tell them to find the words “In God We Trust” on it. Then, make the sign of the cross on their
forehead and say…”May God bless you abundantly, and may you may share God’s
blessings with others.”
